In their LAMDA Grade 7 Acting exams, your students will be asked the following questions:
1) Give a summary of the character’s objective in each scene performed.
2) Explain the role of one of the characters portrayed (the examiner will decide which one!) within the context of the play as a whole.
These questions were both asked at Grade 6 so they should know how to answer these ones already. (I may cover these questions in future posts - let me know in the comments if you’d find this helpful.)
3) Explain the writing style and the period in which the chosen author was writing (the examiner will decide which one!)
Your students not only have to prepare three monologues for the first time, and have to study three different plays, but they have to prepare detailed answers for all three plays even though the examiner will only ask them about one of the characters (question 2) and one of the authors (question 3). It’s a lot of work, and awards them 25% of the mark, so definitely not something that should be left to the last minute.
