Choosing pieces for LAMDA Medal Acting
One really important thing you can do that will make your life as a teacher easier right now!
I’ve heard from lots of people that sourcing materials for medal acting exams can be a real headache. It can be a struggle to:
find extracts that are long enough
find plays that your students will love
ensure that the pieces are the correct difficulty for the exams
in modern plays it can be hard to find pieces for students who want to avoid swearing and adult themes
Over the last 20+ years of preparing students for LAMDA Exams I’ve built up a huge library of pieces, and some useful strategies to make my work life manageable. I think this is my most useful tip:
Select all your monologues and duologues for your medal students from the same plays.
